Does Takealot have an affiliate program?

I’ve been doing a lot of research into affiliate marketing in South Africa and the one question that keeps popping up is whether or not Takealot has an affiliate program…

The short answer is no, Takealot does not have an affiliate program. They do, however, give you the opportunity to sell products through their third party seller portal but they do not pay an affiliate commission for sending traffic and customers their way.

As the largest South African online retailer, being able to market the products that Takealot sell as an affiliate marketer would be amazing, but unfortunately, Takealot does not have a referral program.

How would you make money online with the Takealot affiliate program (if it even existed)

Like any affiliate program, you would earn a commission every time someone purchased a product off of the Takealot website with your unique affiliate links that you could share across your blog, YouTube channel or social media profiles.

In its most basic form affiliate marketing is simply when a business pays a third-party or affiliate a commission for referring a paying customer to them.

If you would like to learn more about affiliate marketing and how to generate income online with it I’ve written this post about it. (It will walk you through exactly how you can make money online in South Africa through affiliate marketing.)

Is there an alternative to the Takealot affiliate program?

The good news is even though Takealot doesn’t have an affiliate program there are lots of other opportunities in South Africa to generate affiliate income from online sales.

The best general online retailer in South Africa, with a wide range of products, that has an affiliate program is Loot. Although their commission payouts aren’t fantastic, something is better than nothing. Loot currently pays a 5% affiliate commission on the first purchase of any customer you refer to them.

There are other South African affiliate programs to promote. The number of businesses in South Africa with affiliate programs vary from niche to niche. As much as being able to promote Takealot as an affiliate would be great, there are other alternatives.

Through my research, I have compiled a rather extensive list of affiliate programs in South Africa. Included in that post are content ideas that you can use to promote those products as an affiliate.

In future posts, I will be digging into each of these topics in more detail in the coming weeks and moths. I’ll also be showing you exactly how to build affiliate marketing income in various video tutorials that I’ll be uploading to my YouTube channel.
